Dude- you sent me the same message a few weeks ago. WTH? So I sent back my standing answer anymore to these--

If you wish. :)

*Meaning I don't give a shit if you do or don't. Don't get me wrong- there are a few people I would love to be on their friends list. But then you have these members who never speak to you, who just pop onto your profile and think it is a must to add you. Just like he did a few weeks ago.

He sent back:

I have added you.

Just for the shits and giggles I hit my update- to see it never changed.

Suuuure you did.

Really why are you doing this? Is status that big of a deal? I mean... what does it get ya? Sire- you can make a Coven or leave out of ones. But if you get to Sire here without being in the Coven/House you want to be in- there is something wrong with you.

I got a question- if you rent your home, apartment-- do you get the place sprayed for bugs as part of your rent?

I am talking more toward a house, not a apartments.

But if you was to get ants... like most people do... do you think the landlord should pay to have the house sprayed? Or is it more your job as the person living there?

I would do it myself...they hire people who use watered down spray that only smells bad.

if you have a good landlord they will do it but some will refuse to do it but it is suppose to be part of their duty

Morrigon
Morrigon
15:57 Jun 29 2010

Depending on the situation. If there is problem with the foundation or general building of the place I am renting, causing the insects to be an issue, I would expect the landlord to pay to have it fixed.

Otherwise, it's my problem.

birra
birra
16:37 Jun 29 2010

I agree with Morri.

There are two things that usually attract ants into a building:

1. food.

2. good living conditions (ie, wet wood, loose foundation, etc)

If it is a building issue with plumming or water problems, it is the landlord's responsibility. If it is a food thing, it is the tenant's.

PhoenicianDream
PhoenicianDream
20:24 Jun 29 2010

Hmm I know apartments take care of their own spraying.

I think I payed to have my yard done when I was in my house, but I also think it boils down to local renters laws/obligations, and what's stated in the lease.

If I had tenants that have habits that continually encourage infestation, I would pay my own exterminator and have them document the cause of the infestation. Then I'd tell the tenants to gtfo!

RedQueen
RedQueen
21:50 Jun 29 2010

In EVERY house I have ever lived in, I have always bombed the house before moving in. Then I thoroughly cleaned the house before getting my furniture and stuff in. And then I proceed to take care of the place I live in, whether rented or owned.

I agree with the others. If it is a cleanliness issue, then the resident is responsible- your mess brought them in, you can take care of it.

If it is, as Birra said, a structural issue with the place, then it is certainly the landlord's responsibility.

Jim and I rented an apartment when we first got to Vegas, because there was no base housing available, and there was a two year waiting list. So we rented until we could buy a place of our own (which we eventually did). In the process of cleaning the apartment before we moved in, the maintenance guy let a neighborhood cat in, and then accidently locked the animal in the house for 3 days. Suffice it to say, it smelled atrocious when we got there. And yet the landlord wanted US to pay for cleaning the carpet. NOT an ice cube's chance in HELL....

ladySnowStrixx
ladySnowStrixx
22:36 Jun 29 2010

no i have been renting most of my life and the only place I have ever seen where the landlord paid was in a apartment complex that was low income housing. If you live in a house it is your responsibility ( person living there) to get rid of your own pest.

Seems we will be going back to the job from Mon, Tue, and Wen. as the tractor trailer was unable to get the whole shipment on out of the house. The 11,000 lbs the Lt. Col gave the base... seems it is going to be even over the 20,000 I estimated on Monday.

We picked up the min storage Wen, thank god, as we was repacking those cartons. That itself is close to 3,800 lbs.

Looks like someone is going over his 17,500 lbs limit.

And seems I was not the only person unable to please the wife as Sevens Van Lines told sis when she called in the min storage weight this morning at 9:00 am that they had already had a call from the driver who was at the house. Seems he was not getting along with the customer.

Really? Wow. You have to just smile, nod yes, say you are sorry she is upset, and just kiss ass. Then you go about your job. The key is not to get upset and let her rant. Rant because you took only 3 of the small glass items out of the 1/2 bath off the living room and but them in a dish pack, and left the other two for another box. Now she is going to spend 'all that time' redoing her new home at the other end. Because god knows you set your home up, same layout every time you move. Right?

*sigh*

Long story- and I am so not looking to going back on Friday to deal with the overflow. And of course the driver left all the shit in the basement. The basement that only has one way out- up the stairs. Yeah... love you too driver, take the easy shit you ass hole.

But that is ok... one more day with her, then it is over. Just one more day of keeping my mouth shut when she starts... just do it and go on, doing what needs done to get the job done right. Do what I know is right.

Just one more day.

At least I had today away from her. :)

And ladies- I need LOTS of drinks at dinner....lots.

"I don't know anything about it."

Let's just say before I left every god damn person in the place knew about it. And the fucker lied. I was down there on Wen getting filters for several rental units and had asked him about when they was going to work on it. He told me they had a service order on it..soon. Does he think I am that stupid??

"I will have to see what we can do."

I asked for the copy of the bill, all repair service calls records. "Why?" Because if you are not doing anything about it then my next step is Trane Company. "I will call them and see what they can do for me."

Sorry but I am a fucking pissed off Rat when I can't sleep due to the heat in my house. Enough is enough with this shit.

Ronnie Lee Gardner picked death by firing squad because he believes it is a more humane way to die — not because it evokes drama or controversy, his attorney told The Associated Press. Gardner, 49, was sentenced to death for a 1985 capital murder conviction stemming from the fatal courthouse shooting of attorney Michael Burdell during an escape attempt. Gardner was at the court because he faced a murder charge in the shooting death of bartender Melvyn Otterstrom.

We delivered a military shipment today that came in a few weeks ago. That driver told me it was a divorce case, and the pickup was interesting. Just those words made you dread the day. First it was a Saturday delivery as we had the week booked up. But with the call out for Saturday work- guys step up, and we was able to slide it into today.

It went well. His head board to his platform bed was cracked at the right leg at the front. It was written up on the inventory as such. He said it was cracked before but not that bad. Well duh… moving… piece of ¼ inch veneer wood… let’s think about it for a second. ANYWAY... told him to call North American as that is who was in charge of the shipment. They told him he would have to file a claim, as everyone else does.

One of the guys did take a picture for me as he put the bed up, so I can show them what happen to the thin wood that was cracked to begin with.

He asked for unpacking so we all split up and I took the kitchen. I am unpacking food when I notice it as I picked it up out of the box. In a zip lock bag, an open bag of flour, dead roaches. Now I hate a roach, they are right up there with snakes for me. So I drop it on the pantry shelf, ready to throw up. One of the guys was in the living room next to me and heard me doing the total girl thing of “EWww…. God… EWWW! Urrrgghhhh!” But they were dead, in the bag so I took a deep breath and went back to unpacking.

It was a few minutes later that I focused my eyes on that bag when I saw something move. There were at least two roaches moving out of the bag. I ran. Toward the living room. “ERIC! Will you come here!! Please! Ohhhh Please come here!” LOL Eric is my guy in the living room. He comes, I show him, and he picks up the bag without a word and heads outside thru the garage as I stand at the sink trying to hurl.

He told me later that the bag had a hole- it had at least 8 roaches trying to get out before he threw it out beside the house.

Then the living rug that was the last thing we had to do- roll it out, put the couch on it. We was holding off as it REAKED! He said 'she' let his pit bull dog piss on it. You could tell. I am like... why the hell would you put it in your new clean apartment?? Throw it the fuck away or take it to be cleaned... then I remember the roaches. Uhh.. nevermind.

Safe to say I had a long hot shower when I got home, clothes are in the washer.

Just….EWWWWWW!

Reading Wolfy's and Daire's journal it makes me wonder....

What would happen if the Status System went back to the old way? Or at least changed a little.

Where you could not fill the forum with empty posting? Where it does not matter how many friends or journal list you are on? You want to block a member? Sure... block away.

I love the Database bonus- it is what the site was made for. I need to add a few things myself, found a site today that has some great items. :)

So if the status system was change back in this way....

What would you say about it?

Yes- I know it is Cancer's site. I also know I can ask a question. :)

People wanted to be on top no matter what before, though. Even without a bonus to their level- they wanted so badly to be number one in the different areas. Still- you see the rating stamps that say "Add me to your friend, journal, and stalk list- I've rated you a 10 please do the same"

I really wanted people to read my journal at one time. I didn't care so much if they added it, I wanted them to read - because maybe they'd see we had like-minds. Maybe there would be something worthy of note there. I don't know. I am not having any lucky finding new people that think I'm worth paying attention to. There's one member here I noticed recently... but that doesn't mean they'll notice me. I live with it and move on :)

I try to make some interesting conversation in my journal, but it doesn't work for everyone. I guess it's better than having 30 entries in total with 700 people that have added it and never look at it at all.

I'm with Images on this one, before the change I had 41 people with my journal on their list that read it and commented or messaged me. Those meant more to me that I could ever express. I'm on many more these days but those early folks were true gold and they know who they are too. :)

I see your point Images. :) While I don't read many journals everyday the ones I do they are close friends, people I care for. It is how I keep track of them, see that they are alright. I really don't care if mine is read or added- like you I am not some people's cup of tea and I am cool with that.

If only the whole "add me" crap would stop. They send you a message they added you, loved your profile, journal. You say thanks. Then they ask you to add them. ??? I just don't say anything and sure as the world they come back and take me off. Why??

It is not making people more open, more friendly on the site. Just a bunch more ass kissing is all, games.

Got to hate Summer. Rental property this last week has been nuts.

5 A/C units out, one being my own. And it is 107 outside. --.--

Two leaking roofs..thanks to all the storms, high winds.

Gutter blown down, and two more need replaced. Please...let's have another storm.

Got two work orders out to the plumber- one sink and one bathtub problems in different homes.

And on top of all that we are doing a remodel. Nothing like going to Lowes at 7:30 and spending a few hours, walking out with a $890.00 bill. And that is just for lighting, paint.

Still got carpet to buy, still looking for a bathroom vanity that doesn't make me want to throw up within my price. Swear I am ready to just buy a freaking framed mirror. But the bathroom has no closet so... keep looking.

And let's see.....

Porch needs work on at one house, same one the lady is asking for the latice (?? spelling) to be pulled off due to the weeds growing up... hello? it is known as a grass killing spray.

And I can't get time to get my car to the shop. Cat has called me two times to see if I want her to meet me at the shop, bring me back as that is half the battle just getting it there. Maybe Thursday. Got to get it in, get the brakes checked.

And still look for a gas tank on one truck, the one is leaking. Thank god it has two and able to shut off the one.

Still trying to find a low cost truck to replace the flatbed.

Still dealing with the IRS of late...fuckers.

Sure there is more there to rant about...but that is my week. :)

I have always wanted to do something but years have pasted and I have still not done it.

I think one of the reasons is I have to go alone. No one will go with me, Birdy and Cat not into the whole ghost thing. That and the 5 floors of stairs you have to climb. I even tired to meet up with birra when he was in the area on business, see if he would go with me but they did not do the tours during that time of the year. lol Sure he was thinking that was a little strange. I have one friend who would do it- but I can’t stand to be around her longer then a hour so… *fake smile* … that is pushing it.

But it is something I need to do soon or I never will do it, and my knees are not getting any better as the years go by. So today I talking with my sister about it and she said she and my other sister would pay for the hotel room, just do it. So I just hung up the phone from setting the dates for… *grins*

Waverly Hills Sanatorium

Saturday August 7th will find me doing the two hour tour at 8:00 pm, and Sunday will find me doing the two hour daytime tour at 2:30pm. I plan to go up early, get a hotel room, maybe hit some of the bigger cemetery to take pictures. I have always wanted to go to Cave Hill Cemetery.

I can’t wait! And I hope to get the living shit scared out of me. 56 days till I go!! Yea!!

Ok- let's get this down. I check profiles, ports and even a few journals. I don't rate you again if I see I have rated you before and see no great improvements in them. If you have worked on it I do rate again. If I had not rated you before I do take the time to rate you.

Sending me messages like this--

"it would've been nice of you to rate my profile when you viewed it.................but i rated yours anyway....."

Is not going to make me want to rate you.

And before you ask- I use the Who's Online to pick who I check, at all levels. Sires, level 20, I really don't care.

And if I see a rating stamp I have not seen before I follow it back to the owner. There is no certain way I do this- I just do. If you believe I have a pattern to this you are badly wrong. That would mean I think about it, put forth a effort.

Ask anyone- I don't.

“Can you tell me what you are moving, Sir?” I ask as I pull a note pad to me, picking up my pen.

“Well it is a normal home. Nothing really big.”

“As the price is set on the weight and mileage I need a idea of what you have.”

“If you take the old 80 it cuts off ten or eleven miles. Do you know where Big Creek cut off is? That will shorten it by even more.”

*Feels the shoulders starting to bunch…it is going to be that kind of call*

“We have to use the Transportations regulated miles Sir so it really doesn’t matter how we come to the home.”

“Oh. But how are you coming?”

Takes the time to tell him the Parkway, better time.

“Ok then.”

*pause*

“And can you tell me how many bedrooms you have Sir?”

“Well the normal for a double wide trailer.”

*the pen in my hand gets the little button on top clicked over and over again.*

“So you have three bedrooms?”

“Well no. I have two bedrooms and a office. The office has a desk, and a little thing the printer sets on. And some cheap bookcases I got at Walmart for $20.00.”

“Ok- can you tell me if those bookcases have books in them? Or what?”

“I might of paid more then $20.00 for them. You know… I think I paid $28.00 or something for them.”

“Ok. How many of them do you have?”

“In the office I have two. In the living room I have one, and in the one of the bedrooms I have one more. That is what? 4?”

“Yes Sir it is.”

And so it goes on and on….

“I have a 4 wheeler, and a riding mower out in the shed.”

“Ok.”

“And some yard tools, a weed eater, and a hammock that I don’t know why my wife spent money on. She used it one summer and it has set….”

*ready to bang head on desk*

Ten minutes later…

“So you have two bedrooms sets, one office, a living room, kitchen table with 4 chairs, a butcher block, washer and dryer, and the items from the garage and patio furniture.”

“Oh.. I was going to move the garage and shed items. And the patio. I have a 16 foot trailer I pull along behind my pickup. And my brother in law has one too. We was going to move all that.”

--.--

Then why the hell did you tell me about it?!

*sigh*

“Ok then, I understand. Let me go thru this list again with you.”

“You sure like list. Can’t you just price me how much?”

“I believe I explain at the start of this call Sir that the price is set by the weight and miles. I have to take what you tell me and estimate the weight. So it is important that I get all of the info you can give me.”

“Did I tell you I was a VET? You are going to give me a discount for serving my country all those years, right? I got one when I was moved into Kentucky.”

“I though you said you moved yourself in a 24 foot U Haul. Remember? You was telling me how big of a truck it would take?”

“Yea…that is right. But I did it at a discount to what the movers priced me. Do you even know where Big Creek is in Hazard? You sound kind of young to be telling me you know a lot about the town. How old are you?”

Some days I just want to crawl back into bed…

What a weekend. Friday I drove 150 miles to make an estimate for moving a dentist department to be stood up. Office was locked up, no cell service so I went to the only drug store in town to try and find a pay phone. Small town and the lady behind the counter not only let me use her phone to call the dentist office, only number I had, she also knew the lady so she made a few calls to try and get hold of the woman. No luck so trip back home steaming. I hate people who are late, not even showing up??!!

Then we have Saturday. I slept late, cooked a nice meal, start my laundry when I notice the house was hot. As in 78. Why? The A/C unit froze back up. So I call the company and listen to the whole “We are closed…blah blah…In case of an emergency please press…” I freaking pressed the hell out of it. Man showed up about an hour later and worked on the unit. Safe to say it took several hours to cool off the house from the 81 it heated up to.

Then Sunday. After not sleeping the best due to a house remodel we are doing, my mind going in a thousand different directions to wake up hot. Yeap… you guessed it. So I put off the rest of the housework, the makeup look I wanted to do to lay on the couch, watching some horror movies. That is until just after 3:00 pm. Got a call in for a courier run. Picked up the package and off to Knoxville Airport. In the dark gray, rain hitting the car in sheets, three accidents on the way there.

I drove 145 miles in an hour and a half, or little over. Now notice the only time given to me for drop off was ASAP. I drove as fast as I could and still feel safe. But let me tell you what I have learned about taking cargo into an airport on Sunday afternoon- you get screwed. I find a parking spot, walked to the airport to find an alarm going off. I looked about and see people just standing, no police or fire trucks. The ticket counter sent me to baggage, the baggage counter refused to handle it. It is a flat envelope that has a piece of paper in it, I watched the lady put it in the damn thing. But they do not handle cargo and the cargo department closed at 5:00pm. It was 5:19 pm. I would have to wait till morning. The plane did not leave for another hour.

So I got to sit and wait for a return call from the customer service at DHL. Did I tell you the paper is to be in Fl. by Monday? Next to me is a snotty nose kid who enjoyed kicking my chair arm. The place is packed, alarm still going off, and kids running wild. I glared at the kid but he just kept kicking. The mother not paying an attention to the brat. So I fanned my face, saying it sure was hot. That it would be cooler if I had been able to slip off my shoes. The kid did, mother still not paying attention even as he threw them.

So he goes back to kicking the arm of my chair when I stop to go thru my purse, not paying attention and next thing I know he did a “WHACK” and screamed out in pain. Mom started to notice the scream that out did the alarm. I smiled, mom took the kid outside, and then the alarm was turned off a few minutes later. Silence.

A little over 45 mins later I get a call. New orders is for me to take the package back home, then be at the Lexington KY airport at 5:00 am to drop off the package at the cargo department when it opens. It was very important that I be there when they open.

So this paper has went to Knoxville, Tn. Back to my home town, and now still 100 miles before it ever gets on a plane. Really?? *sigh* Leave the airport and the drive home was done in a nice sunny evening, home to a cooler house as it has cooled off outside. Now instead of doing some housework as it is cool enough it is time to get to bed.

So that was my weekend.

And Monday I am trying to be back by 8:00 am to get my guys off to work, and work with the contractor about the remodel. Wonderful start to week. And trust me- the AC people will be hearing from my pissy ass mood Monday.

Watched a few of those MTV show called 16 and Pregnant.

Some of these chicks need the crap slap out of them.

And what happens when the kid watches these show years later?

Watch how you whiney about taking care of them? How they were last ditch effort to keep the guy? How the father now has nothing to do with you or the child? How they don’t care about either of you? How much their grandparents took care of them? And how you flat out threaten to walk away? Saying you wish you never had them?

Really… what are you thinking? Wait... you had a kid at 15/16... you were not thinking.

It's damn easy to get pregnant. I can understand those mistakes, but it's important how you react to them. Ownership, responsibility. You make mistakes and you deal with the consequences.

If I were their parents I would be more disappointed in the way they are acting than the fact that they got pregnant.

Let's not forget that they are being paid to be on MTV and that a show about responsible and surprisingly mature young women handling their challenges well wouldn't engender the kind of viewership/ratings that MTV is looking for.

Problem is, most teens feel old enough to have sex but not old enough to take responsibility, also there is this fad of getting on tv and show your life in front of everyone and see how miserable you are.

I loved the movie I Am Legend. Will Smith is great, always loved the story line.

But there is one part I hate.

Why did they have to kill the dog? German Shepard was my first pet and I have a big soft spot for them in my heart.

Just sucks they had to kill her. Trying to watch it again now on TV but all I can think about is the dog trying to save his life after he did a stupid mistake.

Ok- don't think I can watch it again.

Think about it this way...the dog is the only family/companion he has left. The last connection he has to his family. To make the story more dramatic, they take from him what he has left of his sanity...his normal world.

I agree it is the best take on the book...even though The Last Man on Earth was a bit closer to the book.

Seems I am alone tonight, no dinner and drinks with the gals. After my day at work that only got an “Oh well” out of me as it is storming here, thunder, raining. So I came home thinking I would not cook tonight, eat something out of a can or cheese and cracker maybe. That was until I felt my stomach starting to protest to tell me it wanted food. And I am so glad I listen to my stomach.

Standing at the counter, the cutting board taking the thrust of the blade, as I sliced the onions and mushrooms as the music played. The days stress left my shoulders and neck as I used the side of the knife to smash the fresh garlic, tearing into a green pepper as the scent of olive oil heating in the pot made me very happy. Taking the time to notice the magnificent hiss of food heating hot oil makes me give out a “Hello heaven.”

The scent of garlic filled the air as I poured me a drink, watching the garlic brown just a little, adding the rest in layers as I think of what I will make tonight, house nice and cool, music of Pink filling my ears as my stomach started to take note of what was in the pot. I then just stood at the stove, closing my eyes, taking a drink, and smiled. Such simple things should never be missed in life.

Sometimes the most relaxing thing is to go through the motions. You don't have to eat it, but enjoy the making of it. I know of a friend of mine, that was a wonderful cook, and would always be cooking, yet she was skinny as a rail. She apparently donated her meals, fixings and whatnot, to different needy families she knew of. *hugs*

On a pack job today with a new man, training. One of my guy went into rehab when his wife said to get help or she was leaving. I wish him all the best of course. Back to today- It is a bigger job and while I am the one to teach the new guys about packing, I was a little busy. So I started him off with books, nothing you can really do wrong there. He moved onto a bedroom and one of the other guys went with him, and started to teach him.

I had started into the room but stood in the hallway, listening to the man who has worked with us for many years. I had to smile, thinking.... I don't have to do it all. These guys have stayed with me, they know the job as good as me. While the buck stops with me..... I don't have to take it all on.

After a lunch together that I treated them to- the new guy moved into the kitchen and started pots and pans, can goods, etc. He got a touch of everything but the dishes, which is handle by one man only. That man took over the training - as I packed the living room, listening.

"Use paper- Kay will get mad if you don't use enough, never if you use to much. And stack the boxes so she can see the info you write on the outside. It makes it easier for her to inventory."

Looking out for me... that is my guys. :)

At the end of the day I do the normal "Anyone seen my glasses?" I alway lose them, taking the off and laying them about. One man walks up to me and pulls them out of his tshirt pocket. I smiled at him and thanked him, saying he is always looking out for me. "Of course- that is why I are here, we are here."

And they are. :) This last year and a half would been so much more over whelming without them.

BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward told reporters Sunday that he would like his life back.

*sigh*

You would think BP could afford a PR person who would not make such an ass of himself or BP. One who would know what to say and what not to say.

You want your life back? How about all the people this is hurting? The jobs lost? The people who walk along those beaches? The animals? The loss in shell fish?

And if you don't think it will not effect all of us in the long run ... well... really? Do you think BP is going to pay for all this clean up? You should read about the history of Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska.

Even today they still have oil on the land.

Really? You want me to take in storage on a military under the new DP3? No.

It is going to the town...the TOWN that Ft. Knox is in and, reminding you, a three hour trip on the other side of the state from me.

No- I will not take it.

Why? Well.. what the hell. I am tried of putting this off. "Because they are not paying enough. And when the movers in the FREAKING TOWN will not touch it.... that should tell you something." Yes- my name is taken off that movers listing. Not a big loss.

Reason we are turning them done, reason our belts are tighten, reason why I am not buying a flat bed truck, reason why the doors may close.

But screw it.... I am not working for nothing and it seems the other movers have FINALLY got the hint they will not make any money either.

They tried this back in the early 80's.

It will take them not getting ANYONE to handle the moves before they bring the rate up. Going from 150 - 200% of the rate down to only 45% of the rate....with our labor, packing cost, fuel, etc not going down but up??!! Do the math... this is not going to work.

Screw that.

*starts to practice asking "Do you want that in a value meal Sir?"*

There is more to this but...that is it in a nut shell.

Funny thing is- she tells me a little about the forum. And drops that she is a admin on the site. "Really? How long you been one? What do you do?" Seems the site she has all the powers Masters do here. And she has been doing it for over 6 years.
